2019 Oceania Cycling Championships calendar announced
The Oceania Cycling Confederation (OCC) is pleased to announce the 2019 Oceania Cycling Championships calendar across Track, BMX, Road and Mountain Bike.
The 2019 Oceania Championship season will begin October 10-13, 2018, in Adelaide (AUS) with the 2019 Oceania Track Championships. The four-day competition will see 40 titles awarded for men and women across under 19 and elite categories.
Te Awamutu (NZL) hosts the 2019 Oceania BMX Championships on January 19, 2019 with four titles awarded in under 19 and elite categories for men and women.
Following a successful 2018 Oceania Road Championships in March this year, the Oceania Road Championships will return to Tasmania (AUS), from March 15-17, 2019 for the second year of a three-year commitment. 12 Oceania Champions jerseys will be hotly contested in under 19, under 23 and elite categories. With Oceania Champions from this year going on to win Commonwealth Games medals and World Championships the Championships will again attract the best riders from Oceania.
The Victorian high-country town of Bright (AUS) will see Oceania’s best off-road riders in action at the 2019 Oceania Mountain Bike Championships, April 8-10, 2019. Eight titles will be decided across elite, under 23 and under 19 Cross-Country and elite Downhill.
President of the Oceania Cycling Confederation and Member of the Union Cycliste Internationale Management Committee Tracey Gaudry said, “The Oceania Championships represent an exceptional opportunity for elite and aspiring riders to compete in international events in our continent, with all Championship events providing qualification opportunities for the World Championships.
“We are delighted to announce the events well in advance of the 2019 season to maximise the opportunity for riders to take part and to profile the existing and new host locations in Australia (Adelaide, northern Tasmania and Bright) and New Zealand (Te Awamutu).”
The Oceania Championships are part of the UCI Continental Championships series, the highest ranked UCI Championship events in cycling after the UCI World Championships.
