2026 Oceania Mountain Bike Continental Series starts with downhill round in New Zealand

Some of the best downhill mountain bikers in Oceania will line up at the opening round of the 2026 Oceania Mountain Bike Continental Series in Methven, New Zealand, 17-18 January.

Juniors stepping up and top 10 finishers from last year make the elite men’s field something to watch. Carter Sloan (Australia) and Jed Stanton (Australia) who finished in the top 10 last year will be looking for the win. Expect to see Oli Clark (New Zealand) who rounded out the junior podium last year look to make his mark.

Sacha Mills (Australia) who finished third in the series last year will be looking to take an early lead in the elite women’s category. Rising stars will be looking to stake their claim with Bellah Birchall (New Zealand), Kate Hastings (New Zealand) and Ursula Summers (New Zealand) who finished top ten in the junior category last year.

With a number of riders stepping up to elite this year the junior men’s field is wide open. Look for top 15 finishes in 2025 Malik Boatwright (New Zealand) Sterling Stevens-McNab (New Zealand) and Seppy Binsbergen (New Zealand) to stake their claim. While Australian Oliver Colthup will be looking to make a name for himself.

In the junior women’s category look for 2025 series winner Indy Deavoll (New Zealand) who will be looking to pick up where she left off but expect competition to come from Matilda Henness (Australia) who finished second a year ago and will be eyeing the series title this year.
