Cameron Jones and Nicole Frain win inaugural Oceania Gravel titles

New Zealand’s Cameron Jones and Australia’s Nicole Frain have claimed the inaugural Oceania Gravel titles at the 2026 Oceania Gravel Championships, held as part of RADL GRVL in Adelaide, Friday 23 January.

In the elite men ‘s race Jones (New Zealand) overcame a double puncture early in the race to take out the title. With the race continuing to evolve across the challenging 127 kilometre circuit with moves happening only to regroup time and time again.

Jones hit out on his own in the closing kilometres to earn the right to pull on the first Oceania Champions jersey in Gravel. Silver went to Mark O’Brien (Australia) with dual Oceania Mountain Bike Marathon Champion Brent Rees (Australia) completing the podium.

Frain picked up 2026 where she left off last year with an attack inside the opening 10 kilometres of the elite women ‘s race. Quickly establishing a half minute lead over the top of the first climb she continued on her own with the chasing group behind unable to eat into the advantage over an 80 kilometre loop.

With her lead all but assured, Frain kept her head down and rode away to the finish covering the 127 kilometre course in four hours two minutes and 32 seconds to claim the title. In the closing kilometres Tiffany Cromwell (Australia) made an attack from a small group to claim silver with Samara Sheppard (New Zealand) completing the podium.

The under 19 title went to Matthew Costanzo (Australia).
