Former winners and defending champions line up at 2026 Oceania Mountain Bike Cross-country Championships

Former winners Anton Cooper (New Zealand) and Rebecca Henderson (Australia) are looking to reclaim their Oceania mountain bike titles at the 2026 Oceania Mountain Bike Cross-country Championships in Brisbane, 7 March 2026

Elite Men

Last year Cooper missed out on pulling on the Oceania Champions jersey for the first time since 2016 when his run of wins came to an end. He is back and will be eying a return to the top step of the podium and wearing the Oceania Champions crown again.

Also on the start line is Oceania Mountain Bike Marathon Champion (Brent Rees) and Zale Ross-Wilmore (Australia).

Elite Women

Four-time Olympian Henderson has six elite Oceania titles to her name and after dominating the opening four rounds of the 2026 Oceania Mountain Bike Continental Series will be looking to again claim the title she last won in 2023.

The experienced Australian will not have it all her own way with Sarah Tucknott (Australia) who has three podiums in the Continental Series to her name and former winner Samara Sheppard (New Zealand) also eyeing the title.

Under 23 Men

Jack Ward (Australia) is eyeing the title after with four wins from four races in the Continental Series, in a sign of his current form. Harry Doye (Australia) who finished second a year ago will be another name to watch and has strong form, finishing second to Ward in the two recent Continental Series rounds.

The event is shaping as one of the most competitive of the weekend with 2025 silver medallist Reuben Page-Brown (Australia) back and starts after a recent fourth in the Continental Series. Other challenges will come from Coen Nicol (New Zealand) and Fletcher Adams (New Zealand) who both have podium finishes in the Continental Series.

Under 23 Women

With three wins from the four Continental Series rounds Ruby Taylor (Australia) will be eyeing her first Oceania title. Defending Champion Maria Laurie (New Zealand) will be eyeing back-to-back titles, having also finished second in 2024 and winning the under 19 title in 2023. She won the second round of the Continental Series back in January over Taylor.

Also keep an eye on Milla Phipps who has four podium finishes in the Continental Series and Ella Menigoz (Australia) who claimed bronze last year and has two podium finishes at the two Continental Series rounds a week ago.

Under 19 Men

Defending Champion Connor Wright (Australia) is eyeing back-to-back titles and after dominating the Continental Series rounds in Canberra last weekend is looking tough to beat.

Expect to see James Climo (New Zealand) who won bronze last year eyeing a challenge for the top step having won the opening two rounds of the Continental Series and finished second to Wright in Canberra last weekend, as well as Tommy Mollison (New Zealand), Levi Gear (New Zealand) and Oliver Grande (Australia) who have Continental Series podium finishes to their names.

Under 19 Women

Kayley McMillan (New Zealand) won her maiden title a year ago and having dominant the Continental Series, is looking to be the first person to go back-to-back since Jessica Manchester in 2016 and 2017.

Watch as well for Dulcie Copeland (New Zealand), Freya Buckmaster (Australia) and Bianca Stewart (New Zealand).

Pacific Cup

Riders from five Pacific nations – Guam, Nauru, Samoa, New Caledonia and Tahiti will compete in the Pacific Cup.
