Hosting of Oceania Track Championships to continue to be shared between Australia and New Zealand
The Oceania Cycling Confederation (OCC) is pleased to confirm the Oceania Track Championships will continue to be shared between Australia and New Zealand.
The agreement between AusCycling and Cycling New Zealand continues the long established tradition of shared hosting and will allow some of the best cyclists in the world to compete at Oceania Championships across both Tier 1 Member Nations.
Earlier this month the 2025 Oceania Track Championships saw nearly 200 competitors from across our region compete in Brisbane, with Olympic and Paralympic gold medallists lighting up the track, world records broken in able and para-cycling and the first medal by a rider from New Caledonia in nearly 20 years.
The 2026 Championships will be held in Cambridge, New Zealand, 2027 in Australia, 2028 in Invercargill, New Zealand. Further details of the 2026 Championships will be announced later in the year.
Oceania Cycling Confederation President and UCI Management Committee Member Tony Mitchell said, “We are delighted the Oceania Track Championships will continue to be shared across Australia and New Zealand. Both countries have world class velodromes that have hosted major international events and a long history of producing Olympic, Paralympic and World Champions.”
“The recent 2025 Championships in Brisbane saw some outstanding performances including world records by able and para-cyclists, Olympic Champions competing at their first major competition since the Paris Games and an outstanding medal by New Caledonia for the first time in nearly 20 years.”
“I’m sure the 2026 Championships in Cambridge, will be another successful Championships and we hope to see more of our Pacific Members competing, with riders from Tahiti recently visiting the UCI WCC Oceania Continental Satellite Centre in Cambridge.”
Details of future Oceania Championships will be announced at www.oceaniacycling.org in due course.
