Inaugural Oceania Gravel Championships to be held in Adelaide in January 2026

The Oceania Cycling Confederation (OCC) is delighted to announce the inaugural Oceania Gravel Championships will be held in Adelaide, Australia, as part of RADL GRVL presented by Quad Lock, on Friday 23 January 2026.

The Gravel Championships form part of the continued growth of cycling in Oceania with nine Oceania Championships to be held in Australia and New Zealand in 2026 across track, road, mountain bike, BMX, para-cycling and gravel.

Oceania Championships will be crowned in elite and under 19 categories with Oceania Challenge titles awarded in under 17, 19-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74 and 75-79 age group categories.

Ahead of a home World Championships, winners in the elite, 19-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74 and 75-79 categories will automatically earn qualification to the 2026 UCI Gravel World Championships, being held in Nannup, 10-11 October.

OCC President and UCI Management Committee Member Tony Mitchell said, “The OCC Executive is pleased to announce the inaugural Oceania Gravel Championships will be held early next year in Adelaide.

“Gravel is the latest discipline to be added as a Championship event, and with nine Oceania Championships to be held in 2026 there are more opportunities than ever to race for the coveted Oceania Champions jersey and title. This demonstrates the ongoing strength of cycling in our region and our commitment to further grow the Oceania Championships.”

“With Australia hosting the 2026 UCI Gravel World Championships in Nannup in October, the Oceania Gravel Championships provide an important opportunity for riders from our region to qualify with the elite and age group winners automatically securing their place at the World Championships.”
