Kristina Clonan claims third Oceania title of the week with time trial success

Australia’s Kristina Clonan claimed her third medal of the week with a dominant 500m time trial ride, adding to her team sprint and keirin success.

Commonwealth Games representative Clonan stopped the clock for two laps of the track in 33.400 seconds, six tenths ahead of silver medallist and former Oceania BMX Champion Rebecca Petch of New Zealand, with Olivia King (New Zealand) completing the podium.

Bryony Botha successfully defended her Madison crown, partnering with Sami Donnelly to continue New Zealand’s hold on the title. They held of fellow New Zealand riders Rylee McMullen and Emily Shearman with Australia’s Sophie Marr and Chloe Moran rounding out the podium.

After two silver medals Tom Sexton partnered with George Jackson to guide New Zealand to gold in the elite men’s Madison. The pair were too strong for Australia’s Graeme Frislie and Liam Walsh as Keegan Hornblow and Daniel Bridgwater (New Zealand) completed the podium.

Bridgwater was made another trip to podium winning the elimination race ahead of Sexton and Josh Duffy (Australia).

In under 19 events Lauren Bates, Felicity Wilson-Haffenden, Keira Will and Nicole Duncan (Australia) won the under 19 women team sprint, while Megan Baker, Jodie Blackwood and Caitlin Kelly (New Zealand) took out the team sprint. In the time trial Marshall Erwood (New Zealand) claimed gold, Lauren Bates (Australia) collecting the points race title and New Zealand’s Marshall Erwood and Maui Morrison won the Madison.

In the para scratch races Darren Hicks (Australia) and Meg Lemon (Australia) claimed gold.
