Statement regarding 2020 Oceania Road Championships
The Oceania Cycling Confederation (OCC) regrets to advise that the 2020 Oceania Road Championships will not be held as planned in Tasmania, Australia on March 13-15, 2020.
Since becoming aware of constraints regarding the hosting of the Championships in recent weeks, the OCC has exhausted all avenues with Cycling Australia and cycling stakeholders in Tasmania in order to enable the Championships to proceed as planned.
With two months to the Championships and while entries are not yet open, this difficult decision has been made in order to provide clarity to riders, support personnel, officials and other stakeholders.
The OCC understands that this development will be disappointing for the Oceania cycling community and Championships stakeholders, and we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused.
The OCC is continuing discussions with Cycling Australia, Cycling New Zealand and stakeholders across the Oceania region to determine a suitable host organisation, location focussing on Australia, and date for the 2020 Oceania Road Championships. The OCC will provide an update as soon as possible.
