Tayte Ryan wins maiden time trial title on final day of 2026 Oceania Track Championships
Rising Australian star Tayte Ryan claimed his maiden individual elite Oceania title with a sub one second ride in the men’s 1km time trial on the final day of competition at the 2026 Oceania Track Championships in Cambridge, New Zealand
Claudia Marcks (Australia) claimed the women’s time trial while wins in the points race Tom Sexton (New Zealand) and Keira Will (Australia) made return trips to the podium.
Time Trial
Ryan a former junior world champion and the current junior world record holder continued his step up to the elite ranks winning the time trial in 59.669 seconds, to improve on silver from 2025. He was nearly a second faster than silver medallist James Brister (Australia) with Xavier Bland (Australia) completing an Australian podiums sweep.
In the women’s Marcks who claimed bronze a year ago improved to earn a maiden gold in the event with a time of one minute and 6.461 seconds. It was another Australian sweep of the podium with Alessia McCaig taking silver and Liliya Tatarinoff the bronze.
Points Race
Sexton made the podium his second home with another victory this week adding the points race title to his individual pursuit and omnium titles. It was a lap taking demonstration with 120 of his 141 points coming courtesy of six laps on the field. Noah Blannin (Australia) collected silver with George Jackson (New Zealand) completing the podium.
In the women’s race, Will won the final sprint on route to her third gold of the week on 65 points, 11 clear of silver medallist Prudence Fowler (New Zealand) with Rylee McMullen (Australia) a further point back.
Under 19
In the under 19 omnium it was Megan Moore (Australia) who claimed gold in the women’s ahead of Sienna Monteith (Australia) and Neve McKenzie (New Zealand). While in the men’s Riley Crampton (New Zealand) was too strong for William Brown (Australia) and Lachlan Walters (Australia).
Benjamin Murphy (New Zealand) and Emily Watch (Australia) won the under 19 keirins.
